SWR backs new Hospitality and Food Service Agreement
SWR is the first waste management company to sign up as a supporter of the ‘Hospitality and Food Service Agreement’ (HaFSA).
SWR has signed up as a supporter to the ‘Hospitality and Food Service Agreement’ (HaFSA) making a public pledge to work with WRAP to promote uptake of the agreement within the hospitality industry and to assist its customers in achieving and surpassing the targets of the agreement.
SWR is the first waste management company to sign up to the agreement, which aims to cut waste from food and associated packaging by five percent and increase the amount of packaging waste that is being recycled, sent to anaerobic digestion or composted to 70 percent (currently 47 percent). WRAP research estimates that over 3.4 million tonnes of mixed waste (typically food, glass, paper and cards) is produced by the hospitality industry every year and that some £725 million could be saved annually by increasing recycling rates and preventing food waste.
