Look back on 2014’s awards
In order to win this award, this fish and chip shop on the east coast of Scotland has gone way beyond what might be expected of a restaurant. It has implemented a host of environmental measures, including using renewable energy and eco cleaning products, ensuring all catering disposables are made from recycled, biodegradable and compostable materials and calculating the carbon footprint of the restaurant. This is in addition to recycling all possible items and having an in-house water filtration system.
The SRA Rating System involves restaurants completing a rigorous survey, providing answers and evidence to a comprehensive series of questions across the 14 key areas of sustainability; the SRA then assesses the results and rates the restaurants accordingly.
The awards’ ceremony is taking place on Monday 23 January, when SWR’s Strategic Development Manager Jane Dennyson will join CEO Andy Butler in presenting the award at the Oval Space, London. Read more about the awards here.
